Chapter 1 The Day Before Valentine’s Day

An hour later after the Venus flytrap attack, the turtles came back to the lair; Donnie has begin to get samples from the remains of the plant that they destroyed and the rest of the mushroom's spores... He knew from the last time that the mushrooms were connected with the main big one that Leo destroyed, so how comes that a few of them survived? Not to mention that this ones has seemed to grew their own development; they're PINK! And, apperently, the spores effects has changed as well: his brothers doesn't freak out or get scare for any hallutination. If these spores doesn't provoke fear, what it does?
He was having a headeache, Donnie needed to take a break. The though that maybe it wasn't a big deal.
But soon he started to notice some odd behavior from them. In his way to the kitchen he saw Leo watching an epsiode from Super Robot Mecha Force, the theme of the episode was about a romance between the capitain and a female alien, he seemed weirdly focused and dazed…

“Leo…?” The tall turtle finally asked; by the shock, Leo switch the channel. “Are you watching this episode? I though you didn’t like it.”
“No…” He answered, pretty unsure about what to say. ” I was just changing the channel and… This episode was on…”
Donnie would ask to his brother why he seemed so weird…
*WHAMP!!*
“Ouch… Shell!!”
But suddenly, he heard his hot-head brother complaining of pain. He found him next to the hitting-doll, still swaying, with his hands covering his mouth and nose.
“Raph, what happened?!” Donnie say as he goes to his brother. He wanted to help him to get up, but Raph already did it with a violent move.
“Stupid doll…” He mumblered as he walk to the bathroom.
Now, how is it possible that Raph has get an accident with the doll, sinse he NEVER fail in hitting?!
Donnie finally arrives to the kitchen, where Mikey was sitting in the countertop playing with the shellphone with a deep gaze and slow movement in his fingers. The tall turtle opened the refrigerator and pulled out a frozen pizza.
“Hey, Mikey, I’m going to unfreeze some pizza. You want some?”
“… No thanks…. I’m not hungry…”
Mikey NOT HUNGRY?! At the moment that Donnie heard those words coming out from his little brother he walks in hurry to him and checked his pulse from the neck.
“What— Hey!” Mikey protested.”What are you doing?”
“I think the gas is emerging effect…” He answered as he put his hand on his forehead to see if he has fever. His brother hand away from his face defensively. “I mean since when you don’t have craving for pizza…?”
Then he take a look over the shellphone that Mikey has put in the table when he was checked by him… In the screen there was a image of Irma, with a few icons around her…
“Are those hearts?” When he said that, Mikey grab his phone and hiede it behind his shell.
“What?! No… Noooo! Whaa?” He started to talk trying to look not suspiciously nervous. “Why would I put hearts in my phone? I’m a dude, man! You’re wrong! Those are… Huh… Pepperoni! Yes! Pepperoni icons, because it’s an important topping in an pizza.”
“Ok… Then why did you put “pepperoni” around Irma’s head?” Donnie asked. And that did made Mikey spechless; for the shy way that Mikey try to look away and that there was a blush appearing in his fleckered face, his tall brother with the eyes wider get an crazy theory out it. “You likes Irma…?”
The little turtle jumped into him, literally, and cover his mouth with his hands. Donnie managed to not loose balance, while Mikey shush him and look around… He let go slowly the hand and he get down from his tall brother. He sat down in the floor resting his shell over the countertop with the head down of abashement; his tall brother sat next to him.
“Since when…?” He asked. “I mean, she has been your friend at the moment you guys met.”
“I know…” Mikey spoke… And then, he let go a sigh. “But lately I started to see her in a… Different way… You see, she’s so nice…” He started to talk in a dreamy tone. “And funny… Any time I think about her I can’t help to smile… See?” He pointed his smile in his face. Donnie couldn’t help to chuckle about it.
“And to think that you and the others made fun with about my crush over April…”
“Dude, I take back anything that I said…” Then, Mikey get closer to his face. “Do you think I have a chance?”
His big brother didn’t know what to answer… Lucky for him, Raphael call out the in the kitchen entrance.
“Hey, we have training!”
He promised to talk to him later, and that made him smile! But he never has this kind of smile; this smile was from somebody who is really in love.
In the dojo the turtles made their warm ups before that sensei say when to start. At the rat order, the turtles made a square, the exercise was a all-againts-all; last turtle standing wins. In that moment April and Irma enters in the dojo and with Spliter’s permission the sat in the floor to watch them. Donnie was giving his shell to the girls and facing Mikey, he could see him looking on one side of him, obviously he was trying to see Irma. He found this kinda adorable…
“Hajime!”
It happened so fast! Mikey has kicked in his feet to loose balance and another in his plastom. First to go down, and in front of April! He cursed his brother from his inside. He sat down next to April.
“That gonna hurt…” Irma commented from April’s other next. The ginger hair girl giggled at it, while the turtle let go a sigh…
In the battle, Leo has already bet down Raph, who has fallen back with a strong grunt. Now it was Leo VS Mikey! Mikey did block the katanas with the nunchuks and tried to hit him with them, but Leo dodged and countered. He did a back flip that hits Mikey in the face with a kick. The orange masked manage to do a flip in the air, recover balance and rammeb into Leo but Leo turn around and punch him with part the free hand he has, it made Mikey falls and roll to the east side of the room. Leo stood still, like he was posing. Then, in that moment, Donnie had a feeling… By the way that Leo directed his gaze from the corner of the eye to them… No, he wasn’t looking at the three of them. He was gazing… Irma?
*Chain rattle sound*
The chain of the kusirigama tangled Leo’s ankle and made him fall.
“Yame!” Splinter voice rose serious and walks in direction to Mikey. “Micheangelo, you’ve already loose. Why did you attack Leonardo?”
“Huh…” He get up bitting his lip, thinking of what to say.”I… Huh… What if I don’t want to give up a fight? I must keep fighting, right?”
Splinter strocked his beard “That is true…” For once, Mikey has give an intelligent thought. And that was so far unusual! Even freaky!! Defently, Donnie thought that there was something weird happening with his brothers.
He has begun to perform chemical tests with spores; he took the samples and put them in the centrifuge. Then he went to the table where the remains of the plant was.
"Hey Donnie..." The turtle looked up, me eating with the face of Irma. "You've got something?"
"No..." He said, pressing his eyes with his fingers. "The guys haven't show any symptoms of paranoia; that's good, but I would like to know what will happen to them..." He paused, he share a look with the glasses girl... He wanted something from her... "So... You got... Huh... You know..."
She placed a little pile of magazines, with a grin on her face. "'Valentine's Day Special', 'Cupid's Advices', 'Top 10 of the best romantic dates'... I've marked in pink what I think it would work better. Some poetry and florists card... The best of New York!"
"Oh! Thanks..." He said fliping the pages.
"I hope this help you to get April."
"Me too! ... Of course when this thing of the mushrooms ends." He said blushing a little.
The girl laugh a little. "I'm going to see a little of TV. Wanna come?"
"Maybe later, I'll work on this. Maybe in 15 minutes"
It was 22:15 p.m., the girls has already left, and Donnie has take his second break drinking a glass of water. As he came back and entered to the lab, he get a odd surprise, because he met with…
“Leo?” His older brother was checking his table, and surprised by his brother, he get away with a *not* natural way.
“Hey… Huh…” He spoke walking to go out. “I wanted to ask you if you has found something about the spores that Raph, Mikey and I inhaled.”
“I’m still trying to figure out… ” Donnie said. He stoped Leo in the entrance for a moment. “By the way Leo, did have any symptom like dizziness or headeache…”
“No, feel fine.” Leo said, but he seemed to no being honest… “I’m going to the bed. Good night.”
He leave the place in hurry. The tall turtle walked to the table, where Leo was. He noticied that the magazines were opened and disordered. And it seemed that there was something missing.
“Did Leo…?” Donnie thought… Then he heard Raph comming in. “Raph?”
“I have a weird feeling in my stomach, can you give me something to fix this?” He said as he get close to the table.
“In the stomach you say?” Donnie turn around to the top shelving to get a vial of pills. “This will calm it, but you need to eat something first. Beside of that, there’s anything else…” As he turn around he almost see that Raph as slipped something from the table and hide it. “What are you doing?”
“You still have hope to get April?” He asked fliping the papers. The tall turtle couldn’t help to feel insulted.
“So what? Are you going to mock about it again?”
“No… Just…” Raph get the medicine from his brother hands. He seemed kinda uneasy… But why? “How can you keep trying?”
“And why not?” Donatello reply. Before to a pause of starting Raph look away and turn around to leave. “Raph, are you alright?”
“Just peachy…. But I’m fine!”
“Are you sure? Maybe I should…?”
“I’M FINE!!!” He yell and close the door violently.
The purple masked turtle started to get worry; Leo has get something from the magazines, and perhaps Raph too… There’s some finger prints on it too, with a scent of pizza… Mikey has been checking it too!!

What in the world it’s wrong with them?!
